

Milt Tenopir (76) died on September 26, 2016 at his home in Lincoln, Nebraska surrounded by his family. He was born in Friend, Nebraska on March 6, 1940. He was the third child of seven born to Joseph and Anne Tenopir. He graduated from Harvard High School and Sterling College, playing both quarterback and defense. Tenopir coached high school in Kansas, Colorado, and Nebraska from 1962 to 1974. From 1974 to 2003, he coached the offensive line at the University of Nebraska. Ever the optimist, Coach Tenopir saw potential in every player and opportunity. He treasured his long-standing relationships with his lineman, the "fat guys." He always said, "I had the best job in the world with the best boss, Coach Tom Osborne." His favorite pastimes included fishing, cooking, gardening, football, and family. He and his wife, Terri, loved spending time with their grandchildren and attending their sporting events throughout the area. Milt is survived by: his wife of 28 years, Terri; their children (spouses) Kimberly Lester (Rick), Todd Tenopir (Tammy), Pamela Kobus (John), Dana Lockee (Mike), and Daniel Aksamit (Amanda); grandchildren (spouse) Ben and Brittney Lester, Kaylean, Tannor (Karianne), Logan, TeAnna, and Tara Tenopir, Michael, Izek, and Steel Lockee, and Colin Aksamit; great-granddaughter Julianne Tenopir; siblings (spouses) Stanley Tenopir (Judy), Sandra Stemper (Leonard), Jim Tenopir (Sharon), and Linda Kohl (Red); and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, sister Marlene Cox, brother David Tenopir, and brother-in-law Dave Kohl.
