WALENTINE, Myrtle “Les” Keala of Lincoln passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2022. She was born on Sept. 7, 1931 in Honolulu Hawaii, to John & Bernice (Ellis) Leslie. US Marine Corp veteran. Graduated from LSC. Worked at Russell Stover's and was a clerk at the downtown Lincoln Post Office. In 1974, she was hired as the first female City Letter Carrier in Lincoln. She retired in 1991. Member NALC. Married John “Jack” Walentine on March 7, 1953 in Treasure Island CA. She enjoyed bowling and loved Las Vegas!
Survived by: Son, John (Barb) Walentine of Lincoln; daughters, Christy (Rocci) Marr of Lincoln, Sandra (Val) Popescu of Desert Hot Springs CA, Lori Walentine of Lincoln, and Dionne (Mike) Mason of Omaha; 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 2 on the way; bother Howard Leslie of Honolulu, sisters Wanda Leslie of Molokai Hawaii, and Jane (Phil) Smotherman of Honolulu; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death by husband of 63 years Jack, daughter Kathleen Hestermann, parents John Leslie and Bernice (Lui) Chang, brothers John, Stanley and Kenneth Leslie, and sister Ululani Chang.
Visitation will be Monday, August 8, 2022, 1:00-2:00 PM, at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home. 6800 S. 14th St, Lincoln, NE. Celebration of Life following at 2:00PM. Interment at Lincoln memorial Cemetery at 3:45 PM.
