Patsy A Moore

Patsy Ann Moore was born on November 16th, 1931 in Winside, NE. to John Edward Collins and Margaret Collins (Nelson). She died on July 2nd, 2018 in Lincoln, NE. She attended school in Winside, Battle Creek and Meadow Grove, all in Nebraska, before moving to Wood River, NE at age 10. She graduated from Wood River High in 1949. She attended Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, NE starting in 1949, and graduated from there in 1973, with a Batchelor of Science in Religion, having spent the intervening years raising her family. She spent one year in Helena, Montana during her education at NE Wesleyan, in charge of the athletic department at the Montana Deaconess School for the orphans of the miners. She married Y. Scott Moore in April 1953. During her husband’s study of medicine at the Nebraska School of Medicine in Omaha, NE. from 1957 to 1961, she taught seventh grade in Elkhorn, NE., while they lived in a 29 foot house trailer in Elkhorn in a vacant lot for the four years. She moved with her husband to Montgomery, Ala. in 1958 where he was stationed in the Air Force. While there she helped organize the Alabama “Boy’s Town” outside of town. During the next years back in Lincoln, she was a volunteer with Native American food and clothing activities, and helped start the Lincoln Food Bank. She was instrumental in organizing the Cher Amies and Destinairs, a group of high school African American students, helping them get into college. She was one of the initial group of singers who started the Women’s Barbershop Singers, the Sweet Adelines in Lincoln. She was state President of the Family Physicians Auxillary in Nebraska. She was an associate member of the Nebraska State Legislature backing up Senator Shirley Marsh. She was on the Board of Directors of Planned Parenthood for many years.She and her husband, along with a few other members of Trinity United started the Sunday School class named “Questers”, which remains active today. She was chosen by the Nebraska Commission on Women as one of the most important women in Nebraska. She was chosen for the Diana Award (Distinguished International Academy of Noble Achievement) by the Lincoln City Counsel of Epsilon Alpha International in 1978. She was active in many more organizations and groups having to do with women”s rights. In 1979 she and her husband moved to Kansas City Mo. where she attended the St.Paul Methodist Seminary, graduating in 1982 with of Master of Divinity. She was subsequently ordained as an Elder in the methodist Church. She was an associate minister at Trinity Unity Methodist Church here in Lincoln.She formed and taught the WIT (Women in Theology) at Nebraska Wesleyan university, and later taught many classes there in the Department of Religion. She was preceded in death by her parents: one sister, Betty Lu Halbeisen of Warrensburg, MO; and her son-in-law Greg Albaugh of California. She is survived by her husband of 65 years,(who was also her boyfriend in high school); her daughter Chrystin Ann Albaugh of Lincoln; her son Kevin Scott Moore (Sue) of Lincoln; Her son Kirk Stuart Moore (Denise Chevalier) of Parkville, MO.; her granddaughter Kate Moore of New York City; her granddaughter Carly Ann Moore of Lincoln; her sister Nancy Marie Collins of Green Valley, AZ; her brother John Collins (Cindy) of Joshua, TX; her brother Danny Collins (Jackie) of Eaten CO. and a very large number of beloved cousins. Services will be held at Trinity United Methodist church at 7130 Kentwell Lane in Lincoln NE on Monday, July 23, 2018 at 11:00 am. Memorials may be given to Trinity United Methodist church, Planned Parenthood of Lincoln, or to donor’s choice.
