Paul grew up in Trenton, New Jersey. He graduated from Trenton State College with a teaching degree and did his post graduate work at Virginia Tech. Paul and Louise moved to Colorado where he pursued a career with Total Petroleum as a computer programmer. After retiring they moved to Nebraska to be near their family. His favorite club was “The Grampa Club”; he was also a member of the Elks Lodge, and the Nebraska Christian Men’s Choir. Paul regularly attended Southwood Lutheran Church. Paul excelled at playing the trumpet, in symphony language he was first chair. In his leisure time Paul played darts. Don’t challenge Paul with anything valuable …he was pretty “sharp”.
Paul is preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years Louise Koehrsen; sister Maryann Koehrsen.
Paul is survived by his loving children: Kristie Liegl and her husband Jeffrey, Paul Koehrsen and his wife Jennifer; sister-in-law, Barbara Newland-Tangwall and her husband Don; brother-in-law, Edward Strickland and his wife Roberta; 5 grandchildren, Eric Liegl and his wife Maggie, Logan Trauernicht and his wife Ashely, Jensen Trauernicht and her partner Tim Schulte, Mason Koehrsen, Jackson Liegl; 3 great-grandchildren: Willow Trauernicht, Liam Trauernicht and Miller Schulte; nieces and nephews: Bri Newland, Brandon Newland, Leila Strickland and Jenessa Strickland; his faithful cat and companion Bruiser along with many other relatives and friends.
A memorial celebration of life for Paul will be 10:00 am Thursday, October 27, 2022, at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 S 14th Street, Lincoln, Nebraska 68512.
