When Randy was a small boy, he loved to sing. To help himself fall asleep every night, he would sing. He would irritate his brother and sister who wanted to sleep. Randy loved to ride his shetland pony every day - even in winter blizzards. He would ride while holding his small dog on the horse’s back. Once, when he was only ten years old and not strong enough to cinch the saddle tight, it had loosened and slipped off. He had to drag the saddle home.
When he was young, Jerald and Randy were inseparable and often dressed in similar clothes. Randy had a knack for breaking his legs. The first time was when he was five. The second was during a pick-up game of flag football in junior high, and again, in his car accident.
Randy was athletic and played in Lincoln Northeast High School sports, Lincoln sporting clubs, and graduated from Lincoln Northeast. In late May 1975, Randy was involved in a serious car accident and sustained numerous injuries including severe brain damage. After a three-month coma, Randy worked to regain some of his abilities. He died peacefully on November 29, 2023.
Survivors include his mother, Geraldine (Geri) Wurdeman of Lincoln; sister, Glenda (Wurdeman) Clare and brother-in-law, Steve Clare, of Lincoln; nephew, Aaron Clare and his daughter, Rose; niece, Tessa Riley and children, Benjamin and Louisa.
