Rebecca Lynn Brown
June 6, 1955 – December 21, 2018
Rebecca Lynn Mangold was born to Donald and Virginia Mangold on June 6, 1955, in Akron, Ohio, and died unexpectedly on Dec. 21, 2018, in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was raised in California, and her love for the sun, ocean and warm weather never left her. Rebecca graduated from St. Martin’s University in Olympia, Washington, with a bachelor’s degree in computer science. She served her country for four years as a transportation specialist in the United States Air Force and later as an environmentalist for the U.S. Department of Defense. In 1974, Rebecca married the love of her life, Daniel Brown. They welcomed daughter, Lynette, in 1977 and son, Leon, in 1979. Dan’s career in the Air Force kept them moving, and they raised their family in Little Rock, Arkansas; Tacoma, Washington; Scott Air Force Base, Illinois; and finally, Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany. The family returned to the United States where Lynette and Leon attended college, and Dan and Rebecca eventually settled outside of Lincoln. Rebecca was a lover of sewing and crafting and enjoyed gifting her cross stitch, embroidery and quilting creations to her family, friends and neighbors. A wonderful cook and baker, she also expressed her love through her work in the kitchen. Rebecca was happiest when those she cared for were gathered around her table. She will be remembered for her infectious laugh and her devotion to family, particularly for the special bond she held with her grandchildren. Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents and brother Bob Mangold. Her smile and zest for life will forever live on in the hearts of her husband, Dan, brother Don Mangold and sister-in-law, Debbie Mangold, daughter, Lynette Patterson, son-in-law, Jay Patterson, grandchildren Archie, Sean, Oliver and Ava Patterson, and son, Leon Brown, and daughter-in-law, Teresa Brown. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 5, at 10 a.m. at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 S. 14th Street, Lincoln. A celebration of Rebecca’s life will follow in the banquet hall at Rosie’s Sports Bar and Grill, 1501 Center Park Road, Lincoln. The family requests donations to the American Heart Association in lieu of flowers.

We were friends of Becky & Danny’s when we all relocated to League City, TX. Great memories of food and fun. Becky had the most Tupperware and Kitchen gadgets. 😂 Her love also for the pups she spoke to in German. 🐾❤️ We never had the opportunity to met Leon or Lynnette but knew them thru Becky. Her love and pride of her children. We will remember her with love and her infectious laughter. Love & Prayers. John, Gayle & Michael Parker. Tega Cay, SC.

From out of nowhere Beckys name popped into my head. I just had a notion to Google her name just to see if I could see the results. Dan and family I was devastated to learn this wonderful woman had passed last week. I served with Becky at Mchord in 1974 as a supervisor at the transportation office where we became friends. I never had the pleasure of meeting you Dan but you were always in Beckys heart. I took the picture of Becky next to your corvette as we were going to a fellow office workers wedding. Bruce FLynn I recall. I have that same picture in my album along with some beautiful memories of our friendship. Once again my sincerest condolences of your loss of your beautiful bride and may God give you comfort and peace. I will always keep Becky in my prayers.
