

Richard Edward "Rick" Witcig Jr., a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and accomplished electrical engineer, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2026, in Lincoln, Nebraska. Born on January 13, 1961, in Sedalia, Missouri, Rick lived a life defined by resilience, creativity, and a deep love for his family.
Rick's life was marked by extraordinary courage and determination. He was diagnosed with astrocytoma in 1996 and faced this challenge with unwavering strength. He lived a full life cancer free for 26 years after his diagnosis. Rick relapsed in 2020 and continued to fight valiantly for six more years, embracing life fully despite the obstacles he encountered.
Rick pursued a distinguished career as an electrical engineer, contributing his expertise to Pfizer and later Zoetis. His work reflected his dedication to innovation and problem-solving. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Rick was a man of many talents and passions. He had a keen eye for photography and videography, capturing countless cherished moments through his lens. His love for fixing cars showcased his hands-on ingenuity, while his skill with the guitar brought music into the lives of those around him. Rick also treasured family vacations, creating lasting memories with those he held dear.
Rick is survived by his beloved wife Kimberly Witcig; daughters Megan Lorenzen and Madilyn Witcig; son Gage Witcig; son in law Garret Lorenzen; and granddaughters Sophia and Vivian Lorenzen. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frances and Richard Witcig Sr., whose memory he carried with him throughout his life.
Rick's legacy is one of perseverance, creativity, and deep love for his family. His memory will forever be cherished by those who knew him. May his life serve as an inspiration to all who face challenges with courage and grace.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday May 16, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Capitol City Christian Church located at 7800 Holdrege Street in Lincoln
