Ricki Otis Inbody, (Rick), passed away peacefully on November 7, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on July 8, 1955, Lincoln, Nebraska, to Thelma and Joe Inbody, Rick's life was a vibrant tapestry of service, laughter, and deep-rooted community spirit. He also spent meaningful years in Sandpoint, Idaho, where his love for nature and community flourished, but always considered Lincoln and the Malone Neighborhood to be home.
He is survived by his three sons: Derek Inbody (Erin), Curt Inbody (Claire), and Andrew Inbody (Jessica Walters); his beloved grandchildren: Xavier, Yorick, Elliott, and Ellisyn Inbody; his sister Jolene Schlichenmaier; and a cherished group of nieces and nephews; also survived by former wife Deb Sneller.
Rick's professional journey spanned nearly five decades and reflected his passion for people and purpose. From his early days as a splicer’s helper and lineman with Lincoln Telephone & Telegraph where he met many lifelong friends, to his leadership roles at United Way of Lincoln & Lancaster County, Rick embodied dedication and heart. He was especially proud of his time as United Way Campaign Director, spearheading fundraising efforts that touched countless lives. His work extended to community development, nonprofit consulting, and ministry engagement in Idaho. In his later years, Rick brought his trademark energy, warmth and love of food and cooking to Raising Cane’s in Lincoln until retirement in 2018. Whether up on a telephone pole, behind a desk, or in the kitchen, Rick’s smile and spirit were unmistakable.
Beyond his career, Rick was a passionate volunteer and civic leader. He was involved at Grace United Methodist and Christ Place Churches, mentored youth through Teammates and YMCA, served on boards including the ARC of Lincoln/Lancaster County, and was appointed Commissioner of the Nebraska Equal Opportunities Commission. He was a strong advocate for labor rights through his positions with the Communication Workers of America and AFL/CIO. His commitment to equity, faith, and fellowship was unwavering.
Rick loved golf, discussing college football and competing in Pick ‘Em games with his family, hanging out with friends in the garage, camping, and the great outdoors—especially when he could enjoy them shirtless, soaking in the sun and freedom. His humor, humility, and zest for life made him unforgettable to all who knew him.
Rick Inbody lived with purpose, served with passion, and loved with his whole heart. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the memories he leaves behind.
