Robert Gerald Fletcher, 88, of Lincoln, Nebraska, beloved husband of Nancy (Rodwell) for 67 years, passed away peacefully surrounded by the ones he laughed with, lived for, and loved on February 23, 2018.
Bob was an incredibly intelligent man who enjoyed the majority of his life in Lincoln, Nebraska. After graduating from Lincoln High School, he attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for a short time before joining the Army National Guard. He rose through the ranks and dedicated 37years of service to his country and ended his service as a Full-Bird Colonel and headed the United States Property and Fiscal Office (UPSNFO).
In his spare time he enjoyed his grandchildren and walking the fairways hitting the golf ball with friends. Bob was an avid and dedicated Husker fan to the end and loved the outdoors and his pool in the backyard for all to enjoy. Bob also enjoyed coaching youth teams and serving his church at Northeast Community Church in various roles of leadership.
He is preceded in death by his parents Gerald and Vera Fletcher (Dreier).
Bob is survived by wife; Nancy (Rodwell), sister; Betty (Arlen) Beam of Lincoln; daughters, Cindy (Jim) Ware of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Jill (Benda) of Lincoln, and Lisa (Ron) Wise of Lincoln, sons; Scott (Julie) of Lincoln, and Cory (Janell) of Lincoln. Bob had numerous grand and great grandchildren who he loved dearly.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the members of the HoriSun Hospice Care. Their dedication and efforts to provide quality care were a heartwarming blessing to the entire family. We thank God for the gift of his life and the blessing of the time we spent with him.
