Robert "Bob" John Watson passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026, at CHI St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln after a complex illness. He was surrounded by close family members. Up until the end, Bob maintained his humor and love of family.
Bob was born on January 31, 1964, in Omaha, Nebraska. His parents, V. Robert Watson, M.D., and Ruth Watson, raised him in Seward, Nebraska, where he resided until his high school graduation. He moved to Lincoln after high school where he resided until his death. He worked various food service positions until he joined Runza as an employee in 1991; he held multiple positions with Runza over the years but was always so proud of the work he did for the company.
On July 5, 1991, Bob married his wife, Janeen, and shortly after their marriage, two children, Kiefer and Kelsey, were born. Bob loved being a father and always put the family's needs at the front of decisions he made. In October 2025, he excitedly became a grandfather. Bob always cherished the relationship, too, of Janeen's parents, Marleen and John Walters of Hebron, Nebraska.
Outside of work and family, Bob enjoyed cooking for family and friends. His skills in the kitchen were unmatched and at holidays his dishes were always enjoyed. He also loved listening to music, working in the yard, watching anything science fiction-related, and spending time with the family's multiple pets.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, V. Robert Watson, M.D., his mother, Ruth Watson Blevens, his stepfather, Ivan A. Blevens, and his sister, Jane R. Dickey.
Survivors include his wife, Janeen Watson of Lincoln, son, Kiefer Watson of Lincoln, daughter, Kelsey Watson of Lincoln, granddaughter, Scarlet Watson, multiple aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services will be held at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 S 14th St, Lincoln, NE, on Friday, March 13 at 10:00AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Lincoln Humane Society.
