Rodney "Rod" Lee Geis

Rod graduated from Lincoln High School in 1960, where he enjoyed competing in wrestling and football. He also played basketball for First Plymouth Church and was a Cub Scout and a Boy Scout. He met the love of his life, Kay Michael, in 1959 and later married in Council Bluffs, Iowa on June 15, 1960. Rod started working for CB & Q Railroad as a switchman in the fall of 1960 and quickly went into train service in 1961. He remained in train service as a conductor until his retirement in 1995 from Burlington Northern Santa Fe.

Rod and Kay were blessed with 64 years of marriage which included four children, seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. The family continued to grow as Rod's children got married. Rod valued family above all else. He enjoyed celebrating milestones with his large family. Everyone looked forward to the cookouts, birthdays and holiday celebrations.

Rod was a car enthusiast and member of the National Corvette Owners Association, the Road Runners and Chevron Car clubs. He also enjoyed spending time hunting and participating in the National Rifle Association. After retirement, Rod enjoyed going to the gym, working in the yard and attending car shows with friends. He was also a diehard Husker fan and collector of Husker memorabilia. He either attended the home games or watched them from home. In the summer of 1999, he purchased "Ruby," a 1995 Corvette Coupe. In 2005, he purchased "Scarlet," a 2003 Corvette C5- anniversary special edition. Rod showed great pride in competing in car shows and bringing home over 50 plus trophies.

Rod was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; infant brother; in-laws; brother-in-law; grandson, Mason; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Rod is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Kay; their children Todd (Carrie) Geis, Timothy (Tiffany) Geis, Tamara Geis (David Tarrence), Cheryl (Eric) Pavey; grandchildren, Tayler Shaw (Joseph and their child, Tommy), Nathan Geis (Hunter Radenslaben), Zane Geis (Elizabeth and their children Ariella and Atreus), Jackson Pavey, Seth Pavey and Carson Geis.

He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
