

He was born at home on December 21,1933, in Roca, Nebraska. The son of Atlee Burpee and Matilda Elsie (Tillie) (Brandorff) Graul.
He lived in Roca until his graduation from the University of Nebraska with a BS degree in accounting in 1955.
On June 13, 1955, he received his diploma from the University of Nebraska and was commissioned as an Ensign, USN. June 14, 1955, he married Maryhelen Moormeier. Into this union were born two daughters, Sandra Rae and Susan Kay.
They left on their honeymoon, which consisted of traveling (by car) to Athens, Georgia where he attended the US Navy Supply Corps School. He graduated as a Supply Officer in December 1955. In January 1956 Maryhelen and Roger left for his first duty station in San Diego, California, aboard the USS Montrose, APA 212. He completed his service at the Lincoln Naval Station. Roger served in the Navy from 1955 to 1993 and retired with the rank of Commander.
Roger’s first “civilian” job was with Golds & Company until 1962. Later he began working as an accountant for a variety of companies until April 2009. He retired to enjoy time with his wife and family, work on genealogy and his stamp collection.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law; Sandra (Michael) Lee and Susan (Stephen) Dolezal; grandchildren Matthew (Elisabeth) Lee and Stephaine (Seth) Revord and great granddaughters Emily Revord and Hailey (Liam) O’Malley, great grandsons Jonathan and William Lee, sister-in-law Patty Kolder.
He was preceded in death by his wife Maryhelen of 65 years, his parents Atlee and Matilda (Tillie) Graul, in-laws Beryl and Edwin (Ed) Moormeier Sr., brothers Dale (Marcia) Graul and Loren (Patricia) Graul, sister Doreen (Ross) Rector, brothers and sister-in-law Edwin (Eddie) (Betty) Moormeier Jr., and Warren Kolder.
