Roger passed away January 12, 2019. He was born to Clarence and Henrietta (Schulz) Kowalke on February 11, 1926 in Sioux City, IA. After graduating from Leeds High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served 2 ½ years as a radioman aboard an aircraft carrier. Upon discharge from the navy, he graduated from Morningside College in Sioux City. Roger worked for many years in the real estate field and retired from the Nebraska Real Estate Commission as Associate Director for Enforcement and Investigator. He was a member of VFW, Sertoma West Club and Redeemer Lutheran Church. He loved big band music and woodworking. He is preceded in death by parents; son, Krage Kowalke; brother, Jim Kowalke and sister, Joy Edwards. Survived by wife of 40 years, Helen Kowalke; children, Kirk (Carol) Kowalke, David (Carol) Kowalke, Carol (Jeff) Davis and Lisa (Roy) Shelton; 1 step-daughter; 2 step-sons; and several very special grandchildren and great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers memorials suggested to the National Kidney Foundation or Redeemer Lutheran Church.
