

Ronald “Ron” Lee Cummins went to be with his heavenly father on October 22, 2025, after battling Parkinson’s for 11 years and Leukemia for the last 3 months. He was a beloved husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, step-grandfather, brother and uncle. Ron was the honest, hard-working guy and one that would do anything for you.
Ron was born at home on July 31,1934, in Dawson, NE to Glenn L and Fern G (Porter) Cummins.
Ron graduated from Dawson High School in the top 10% of his class. Ron started his mechanic career at Hunker’s Garage in Verdin, NE and then worked at Strong Brothers Chevrolet in Humboldt, NE. He enlisted in the Nebraska Army National Guard in 1953. He served for 8 years as a Light Weapons Infantry soldier. He later moved to Lincoln where he worked for over 20 years as a mechanic at Lincoln Electric System before retiring.
Ron was a member of: Master Mason, A.F. & A.M. Lincoln Lodge #19 Lincoln, NE; Mount Moriah Commandery #4, Lincoln, NE; Order of Eastern Star, Electa Chapter #8, Lincoln, NE. Ron was also a member of the Shriner’s Road Runners, who provided free transportation for children and their families to and from Shriners Hospitals for Children.
In 1987, Ron met Sandy at a Parent’s Without Partners event. A year later, they got married on Valentine’s Day. Ron wanted a day that he wouldn’t forget. Ron also believed “happy wife, happy life” and memorized the phrase “yes, dear.”
After retiring from LES, Ron & Sandy started two businesses. They operated Cummins Lawn Care for 3 years. Their craft business, Countryside Creations, allowed them to travel around NE selling wood crafts and paintings.
Ron & Sandy moved to AZ in 2002. They lived there 16 years before returning to Lincoln in 2018. While in AZ, Ron enjoyed working with the Sun City Posse. The Posse’s mission was to enhance the safety and well-being of Sun City residents.
Ron is survived by his wife, Sandy of Lincoln, NE; son, Jeffery (Christy) Cummins; daughter, Stephanie Gomes, 5 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren all of CA; stepchildren, Randall (Brenda) Deahn, Kim (Dan) Bryant and Valerie (Todd) Kinghorn, 9 step-grandchildren, 8 step-great-grandchildren all of Lincoln, NE; brother, William Cummins of Fairbury, NE; Hazel Cummins, sister-in-law, of Humboldt, NE; Cousins, Nieces, Nephews and many friends.
Ron was preceded in death by his father, Glenn; mother, Fern; brother, Larry; sister-in-law, Imogene Cummins and many friends.
