Rose Lee Goos, 91, passed peacefully on August 2, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was the beloved mother of LaVonne Hennessey, Mitzi and Steve Sands, and the late Verne Hennessey, and grandmother of Stephanie Sands-Davenport and Ethan Davenport, and Jonathan Sands.
Born on June 20, 1935, Rose was entirely her own person – sharp-minded, quick-witted, and never in danger of being mistaken for anyone else.
Her practical nature was matched by a wonderfully adventurous spirit. On one memorable occasion, Rose and her husband, Richard Goos, went to the airport without choosing a destination. They simply picked the next flight and discovered where it would take them. For a woman who understood the value of a carefully considered investment, Rose also knew that some of life’s best returns come from taking a chance.
Above all, Rose loved her children. If something was within her power to do for them, she did wholeheartedly and without hesitation.
Rose lived with intelligence, independence, courage, and sheer determination. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
A private family memorial will be held.
