He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Ethel.
He is survived by his two daughters, Cheryl (Allan) Silvers of Las Vegas and Laurie (Stuart) Campbell of Lincoln; and three grandchildren, Shelbie and Shayla Silvers, and Luke Campbell. He is also survived by his brothers Jerry of Baton Rouge, LA; Rich of Eau Claire, WI; and Randy of Windsor, CO; and his sister Karen Huhn of Watertown, WI.
Russell served in the Navy from 1962-1965, on the USS Albany, which was based in Guantanamo during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
A service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 2001 S. 11th Street in Lincoln on Tuesday, March 8. Visitation at 10:00 a.m., service at 11:00 a.m., and reception to follow. Interment will then be held at the Lincoln Memorial Park and Cemetery, on 6800 S 14th Street in Lincoln, enter at Gate 2. In lieu of flowers, family requests Memorials to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
