
Russell enjoyed participating in Lincoln Parks and Recreation activities, with bowling being a favorite. He also looked forward to spending time with his friends, including those from the Friendship Club. Russell really enjoyed sports and was a big fan of all sports. He began participating in Special Olympics when it was first introduced in Lincoln and did so for many years. His events included bowling, track and basketball. He made many friends over the years from those activities. He was also a huge fan of the music and musical groups who came from the Woodstock era and his T-shirts showed that.
He is survived by his parents, Jerry and Shirley Daugherty of Lincoln NE; brother, Brett (LouAnne) Daugherty; nephew and niece, Jared and Tessa Marie; along with many others in his extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins; and special friends, Mark Britton and Randee Ridgeley. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janene Ann Hand.
Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 28th at 2:00 PM at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home at 6800 S. 14th, Lincoln, Nebraska 68512 followed by refreshments.
