Scott D. Nelson

Scott Douglas Nelson of Lincoln passed away Monday, December 18th at the age of 65. Scott graduated from Lincoln Northeast High School, and retired in 2020 from the Lincoln Public Schools Distribution Center.

If you knew Scott, it was pleasure. It was a random joke, which ranged from the best of the best dad jokes to the not so PC jokes. It was having someone put you first no matter what he was going through. It was the most contagious laugh and softest smile. Scott was the first person to be there when you needed help or just someone to sit with. There was never a negative word or combative conversation. Even when Scott was at his worst, his worry was for others. There is no one who brought as much joy and kindness as Scott. He will be more than missed and so will his hilarious birthday cards.

Scott was preceded in death by his younger brother Mark, his father Bruce, and his older brother Craig. Scott is survived by his mother Donna Nelson, his sister Kristi Nelson-Hitz (Rustin Hitz), his nieces Jennifer Nelson, Taylor Cox (Justin), Karli Jo Hitz (Mike Monterrubio), Katie Hitz (Braydon Cox), and nephew Kevin Nelson (Chanelle).

In lieu of a public service, a visitation with a reception will be held Friday December 22, 2023 from 5-8 P.M. at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be at a later date. Memorials in Scott’s honor are designated to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
