Shirley JoAnn Wohlfarth (Jones), went to join her husband of 65 years on July 9th, 2020 in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was born to Harold and Goldie Jones on August 26th, 1933 in their home in Lincoln. She graduated from Lincoln High School where she met her soulmate when selling him an apple at a football game. Even though they were apart while he was serving his country, and she at Bryan School of Nursing where she graduated in 1954, they reunited upon his return home and she married Carl C. Wohlfarth on April 2nd, 1955. While continuing to be a Registered Nurse, she helped start the family business, a small tack shop in 1972. Shirley helped Carl grow that small tack shop into The Fort Western Stores where she took pride in buying jewelry and collectibles, especially turquoise jewelry. Shirley had a passion for collecting things, among her favorites were Hummel figurines and blue plates, and she loved her many cats and her dog Crystal. One of Shirley’s greatest joys was hosting people in her beautifully decorated home. Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed.
Shirley is survived by her daughters Becky Steinhoff (Jim Hultman) of Palmyra, Linda Schomerus (Keith) of Bennet, and son Steve Wohlfarth (Laurie Blankman and sons Michael, Riley, and Andy) of Eagle. Shirley found joy in her seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; Brian and Shanda Steinhoff and their children, Dakota, Dallas, and Denver, Lisa and Nate Dowding and their children, Hailey, Tinley, and Piper, Brad and Emily Steinhoff and their children Brandon and Kelsey, Keri and Zach Hill and their son Noah, April Steinhoff and her daughter Alexis, Kristin and Scott Nuttleman and their children Baylynn and Brickstin, and Kyle and Shelby Schomerus and their daughter Saylor. Brother Jim Jones (Vickie) of Winchester, Kansas, and sister-in-law Caroline (Annie) Jones of Crete, brother-in-law Dave Wohlfarth (Kathy) of Amarillo, Texas, brother-in-law Jerry Gableman of Lincoln, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Carl C. Wohlfarth, her parents, Harold and Goldie Jones, her father and mother-in-law Carl and Mary Wohlfarth; brother Harold (Butch) Jones, sister-in-law Miriam Gableman, and brother-in-law Paul Wohlfarth and sister-in-law Sandy Wohlfarth.
Shirley’s love with her husband was so strong that they went to their eternal resting place within three days of each other. To honor their love story, their celebrations of life will be united just like their love on Wednesday, July 15th at 4:00 at The Lincoln Station 201 N 7th St, Lincoln, NE 68508.
