Born in Lincoln, Nebraska, on January 10, 1961. Sue was the daughter of Arthur and Shirley (Toombs) Ryan. Sue attended Lincoln High School and dedicated over 10 working years to Lenco in Waverly and over 20 years to the State of Nebraska Lincoln Regional Center where she met lifelong friends. Sue was married to Don Childress, and had two sons.
Sue is survived by her son and daughter in law, T.J. and Rebecca Childress, her greatest pride and joy, her two grandchildren who call her Mimi, Tyler and Katie Childress. Sisters, Linda Oliver, LaVonna “Bonnie” Rice (Don), Cheryl Roper (Gary), and multiple in-laws, cousins, and nieces and nephews.
Sue was also preceded in death by her husband Donald Childress, son born at rest, Jacob Childress, brothers and sister, Edwin “Ed” Ryan, Joy (Fringer) Lee, and Patrick “Pat” Ryan, along with many other loved ones who undoubtedly welcomed her with open arms.
She had a heart that had room for everyone. She never needed someone to be “her own” to love them as though they were. She had a special way of making people feel accepted, cared for, and loved. Sue was a safe place, a helping hand, and someone who would give of herself without expecting anything in return. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
