Susan lived in Lincoln throughout her early hears and graduated from Lincoln East High School. She raised her family in Lincoln and spent much of her life working with children. She operated an in-home daycare for 15 years, caring primarily for school-aged children, and also worked as a paraprofessional in the schools.
In 2001, Susan moved to Wolf Point, Montana, and later relocated to Minatare, Nebraska. In 2024, she returned to Nebraska City to be closer to her daughters.
Susan was funny, stubborn, and had a way of making people smile with her humor and jokes. She loved reading, watching movies, and getting her nails done at the salon. When summer arrived, she enjoyed spending time in the sunshine or relaxing by the pool.
A longtime Husker volleyball fan, Susan held season tickets for many years and enjoyed attending games with family and friends. The games were something she could share with the people around her while cheering on her favorite team.
Susan was known as Grandma Suzzy to her four grandchildren, Elizabeth, Maddy, Sam and Ella. Although distance meant their time together was often centered around Christmas and summer visits, these times were opportunities for family to come together and make memories.
Susan is survived by her daughters, Alison Simmons (Jason) and Amie Edhard (Tony); her grandchildren, Elizabeth, Maddy, Sam and Ella; and her brother, Gene Schuster.
Susan's life was filled with her own unique personality, the work she did, the interests she enjoyed, and the people who were part of her journey. She will be remembered for her humor, her stubborn spirit, and the moments of laughter she shared with others.
