

At an early age Terry’s family moved to Travis Air Force Base in Solano County, CA. They returned to Lincoln when Terry was 15 years of age.
Terry joined the U.S. Army in 1972. He was a Cold War/Vietnam War Era Veteran. He completed his basic training at Fort Leonard Wood MO., then trained as a wheel vehicle mechanic and driver, stationed in Baumholder, Germany. Terry proudly served with the 293rd Engineer Bn. (H) obtaining the rank of Specialist 4th Class. During his service he earned a Marksmanship Award. After being Honorably discharged he returned to his home in Lincoln, NE.
Terry married Margaret ‘Margie’ Ohlinger on December 4,1976. Out of that union came three children. Melissa, Clara and Matthew.
During Terry’s career he was employed by Cable Vision as an installer. He was employed by the City of Lincoln on the street maintenance crew for 19 years. He received his CDL Certification from SCC and drove over the road for Crete Carriers out of Lincoln, NE. and Keim Trucking out of Sabetha, KS. He retired from Reimers-Kaufman as a Warehouse Foreman after 17 years. Terry was a member of the American Legion Post 3 for 12 years.
Terry enjoyed playing cards and softball with friends. But Terry’s passion was playing the drums on the Worship Team at Radiant Church where he was a faithful member for 31 years.
Terry is survived by his wife Margaret ‘Marge’ Ostgaard. Melissa Ostgaard and son Baylin (Sammi) Ostgaard of Lincoln, Clara Wilson (Nathan) and children Jordan and David Wilson II of Baldwin City KS. and Jeremiah Arnold of Manhattan KS., Matthew (Tracie) and children Mason and Olivia of Lincoln. Sisters Susan Ostgaard and Cindy Ostgaard Schuler both of Lincoln. Many nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by his brother Cliff Ostgaard, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Celebration of Life service will be on January 10, 2026, at Radiant Church 740 N. 70th Street at 10:00am. Reception following at the church till 3pm. A private burial is planned.
