

Schirmer, Theodore (Ted) Leroy, age 81 of Lincoln, died Thursday, April 16, 2015. Born April 3, 1934, in Milford, Nebraska, to Lester and Gladys Schirmer. Ted graduated from Milford High School in 1952. His major was college prep. He loved to participate in athletics, especially as quarterback for the Milford Eagles. During high school he worked for Dr. Diogini in Milford and the Connor Roofing Company. He went to work for State Farm Insurance Company after graduation. In July of 1952 he joined the Naval Air Force at the Lincoln Air Force Base. During his time in the service he was stationed at Mount Holly, New Jersey, Okinawa, Japan, and San Francisco. He was honorably discharged in January of 1958. Ted returned to work at State Farm Insurance Company as an Underwriter and subsequently went to work for Standard Reliance Insurance Company as a Claims Examiner. He continued to work for Standard Reliance which later merged into Allied Insurance Company of Des Moines. He retired from the insurance business in 1997 as Administrative Manager. Ted was a member, elder, deacon, and usher of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Lincoln.
Ted is survived by his beloved wife Regina, his sons and daughters-in-law Jerome Lee and Valerie Schirmer of Mesa, Arizona, and Ted J. (T.J.) and Kristi Schirmer of Lincoln, Nebraska. Ted was the proud grandfather of six grandchildren who he loved dearly: Timothy Kyle Schirmer of Manhattan, New York, Mackenzie Taylor Schirmer of Phoenix, Arizona, Grant David, Jackson Harlan, Maxwell Austin, and Grace Beth Ann Schirmer of Lincoln, and two step grandchildren, Steven Penrod and Lindsay Reed of Mesa, Arizona, and one step great-grandchild, Mila Reed. Ted is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law Jane and Jim Gardner of Seward, Nebraska, sister Virginia Miller of Rising City, Nebraska, sister-in-law Deralea Schirmer of Wentzville, Missouri, brothers-in-law Norman Fiedler of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Willard Jensen. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Gladys, his brothers Allen, Ronald, and James, his sisters Arlene, June, and Janet, and brothers-in-law Kenny Miller and Richard Flake. Funeral service 10am Wednesday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2110 Sheridan Blvd. Visitation Tuesday from 4-8pm with the family receiving and greeting friends from 5-7pm at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 S. 14th St. Lincoln, NE.
