Timothy "Tim" A. Thallas

Timothy “Tim” Alan Thallas, 69, of Pleasant Dale, NE, passed away peacefully at home on August 18th, 2026. He was born on April 27th, 1957, to Robert Sr. “Bob” and Doris “Dorie” (Wolfe) Thallas in Lincoln, NE. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Debra “Deb” (Hinzman) Thallas, on May 16, 1992.

Tim was a man who truly loved life and knew how to have fun. Tim worked hard as a carpenter so he could play hard, enjoying the many aspects of life that he loved. His heart was fulfilled through hunting, fishing, and enjoying the water on his boat. He loved a good game of darts or pool and having a hot hand in cards. Over the years, he enjoyed competing in golf, softball, horseshoes, kite flying, and anything else that could turn into a game. A good joke was always part of the conversation, followed by his genuine, unforgettable laugh. Being surrounded by his favorite people and sharing the joys of life was his favorite story to tell.

During their 34 years of marriage, one of their greatest outdoor adventures was creating their home on the acreage north of Pleasant Dale.

They shared their home with their beloved dogs throughout the years. Laughter was always heard during their gatherings with friends. The smell of barbecue filled the air. Fireworks lit up the sky on the Fourth of July, with many friends, family, and neighbors filling their backyard and lining their driveway.

The sound of race cars was heard from the basement while watching NASCAR races. During football season, the walls would rumble as he shouted for the Giants or the Huskers to get a win!

He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Sr. “Bob”; mother, Doris “Dorie”; and brother, Robert “Rob" Thallas Jr.; cousin, David Wolfe; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lorna and Harold Hinzman; nephew J.J. Hinzman; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

His legacy is left to his wife, Deb; brother, Joe Streur (Terri); sisters-in-law, Carol (Dan) Drees and Kathy (Charles) Houser; brothers-in-law, James (Ayako) Hinzman, Robert “Bob” Hinzman, and Ronald “Ron” (Suzie) Hinzman; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many lifelong friends.

Tim asked for his love for fishing to be left as a legacy to everyone he knows. In lieu of flowers, Tim asked that you take a loved one fishing, teach a child how to fish, and love nature. Keep the spirit of the Crawdad Song with you, knowing Tim’s singing, “You get a line and I’ll get a pole, Honey / You get a line and I’ll get a pole, Babe / You get a line and I’ll get a pole / We’ll go fishin’ in the crawdad hole,” right along with you. Donations can also be made to your local animal shelter in his honor and for the love of dogs.

Willie Nelson sang the words, “Turn off the lights. The party’s over now.” Tim’s party may be over, but the stories, laughter, and memories he left behind will keep him with us forever. Thank you to everyone who helped create memories with Tim, but most of all, thank you for being a friend.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am on August 24, 2026, at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 South 14th Street, Lincoln, Nebraska. Inurnment will take place on August 24, 2026, at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery, 6700 South 14th Street, Lincoln, Nebraska.
