Jerry was known for his outgoing personality and storytelling abilities. He never knew a stranger and had a gift for recounting fishing tales and youthful adventures.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Jan Sanford, and their four children: Jerry Sanford, Tami (Tom) Kramer, Mike Sanford, and Todd Sanford. He also leaves behind his sister Ramona Turner, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Troy and Edna Sanford, and three brothers.
Jerry proudly served in the Air Force from 1954 to 1958. He went on to have a career as a union ironworker and was also a skilled mechanic.
In his younger years, Jerry had a passion for race car driving. He also enjoyed hunting, riding motorcycles, and crafting handmade knives. But his greatest passion was fishing, which he made sure to share with his children and grandchildren.
The family is grateful to Jerry’s caregiver Janet Haith who assisted with his care for the last three years.
The memorial service will be Friday, November 3 at 2:00 pm at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home. Please join us in remembering and celebrating the life of Jerry Sanford.
