Trudy Ann (Fisher) Wickenkamp of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away on May 27, 2025. She was born in Beatrice, NE, on February 16, 1947, to Ernest and Berniece (Ackerman) Fisher. Her life-long passion for sports began when she played volleyball and softball in high school for Virginia and Lewiston schools. After graduating in 1965, she attended the Lincoln School of Commerce.
One of her proudest accomplishments was working with the same employer for 35 years. She was hired at Dorsey/Sandoz Laboratories in 1970 and stayed with them until she ended her tenure there at Novartis Pharmaceuticals’ as an executive assistant and a materials buyer. She made so many life-long friendships during this time that she cherished and was a member of their softball team.
Trudy married Lester Wickenkamp on February 1, 1980. She became a stepmother to his two children, Kevin (Cindy) Wickenkamp and Kris (Greg) Bennett. She was also a step-grandmother to Logan and Luke Bennett. Trudy always enjoyed visits to see them all in California wine country. She lost Les to Alzheimer's disease in 2020, but Trudy was a diligent caregiver for him as his as long as she could. She proudly volunteered at the Alzheimer's Association in Lincoln, again where she made more life-long friendships.
Her fondest wish is for her friends to remember the fun times they shared throughout the years. She had fond memories of trips to Padre Island, TX and other motor home adventures with friends as well. She loved playing golf, bridge, and softball (back in the day) and treasured the relationships she gained through those activities. She really enjoyed red wine, and her friends and family delighted in finding new ones for her to sample. However, her two biggest passions were the University of Nebraska women’s volleyball and caring for the family farms in Virginia, NE. Trudy was a super-fan and through generous friends was able to enjoy season tickets for many years. If she wasn’t watching volleyball or playing golf with her ladies’ league… she was most likely on a mower at the farm where she loved keeping things in order.
Trudy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother, Ernest “Larry” Fisher. She is survived by step children Kevin and Kris, sister-in-law Sandra Fisher, niece Amber Fisher, and nephew Darin (Monica) Fisher. We will miss her sassy and generous spirit every day.
Services will be held at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 4th, 2025.
Visitation from 9:00-10:00 am; Service 10:00 am. There will be a reception immediately following. She will be laid to rest at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery.
