It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Vicki (Roedel) Evans on July 14, 2026, at the age of 83. Vicki was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose kindness touched everyone she met.
Born with a generous heart and a vibrant spirit, Vicki lived a life full of adventure, service, and purpose. As a teenager, she was a spirited radio host, delighting listeners with her quick wit and warm voice. She was blessed to be a stay-at-home mom for many years, pouring her love and energy into raising her children. With unwavering strength, she cared for her ailing husband and a sick child, embodying compassion and resilience during life’s most difficult seasons. Eventually, she returned to the workforce to a Recruiting agency, where she excelled as office manager.
Vicki was an avid fisherman, a successful real estate investor, and a passionate world traveler who embraced new cultures, landscapes, and friendships wherever she went. Faith and generosity were the foundations of her life—she volunteered with Food Net, participated in Gleanings For the Hungry, served faithfully on Messiah’s funeral committee, Senior Ministry, LWML and continually sought spiritual growth through Bible studies. She believed in serving others with humility, joy, and grace.
She is survived by her children, Jerry Roedel and his wife Angie (Minnesota), Shawna Herechski (Lincoln), Rob Roedel and his wife Kimberly (Arizona), and Stacey Roedel (Lincoln); six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and many dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dick and Helen Merrell; her sister, Sandra; her first husband, Richard Roedel; her second husband, David Evans; several sisters- and brothers-in-law; and best friend and travel companion Jan Beck.
A celebration of Vicki’s life will be held Friday, July 24th at Messiah Lutheran Church, 1800 S 84th Street, Lincoln, NE, where family and friends will gather to share stories, music, and the warmth she brought into the world.
Her love will remain in our hearts, her wisdom in our minds, and her spirit in every act of kindness we share. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in her honor to Foodnet of Lincoln at www.foodnetlincoln.org
