Virginia Elizabeth “Ginger” (Griess) Tribble was born on November 22, 1925, in Lincoln, Nebraska to Hugo and Amolia “Mollie” (Lissman) Griess. She passed away on February 18, 2019, at the age of 93, in Lincoln at her Lancaster Manor residence, surrounded by her loving family. In her youth, Ginger attended Riley Elementary School and then went on to graduate from Lincoln Northeast High School. She also received a two-year degree in business from Lincoln School of Commerce. Ginger married her first husband, Burton Hoefs, in 1950 and to this 12-year union four children were born. During their marriage, the family lived in Nebraska, Illinois, North Carolina, and ultimately returning to Lincoln, where all 4 children attended Ginger’s alma mater high school, Lincoln Northeast. Later in life, Ginger met and married Marion “Matt” Tribble. They remained
until his death in 2004. Prior to her marriage, Ginger worked at Russell Stover’s Candy Company. Then, after returning to Lincoln with her four children, Ginger worked as a sales associate for Pat Ash, Inc., Office Manager for Cornhusker Trucking, and ultimately retiring from Nebraska Boiler after many years of service as a secretary. Ginger will be remembered for one of her most cherished activities--dancing. She was known to frequent her favorite local VFW Club and Elk’s Club to catch up with friends and kick up her heels. Her love of dancing was evident even up to the weeks prior to her passing. Ginger also enjoyed working in the yard, cooking, watching movies, and spending time with her family and close friends. Ginger will also be treasured for her kind, caring, generous, and forgiving nature; her loving spirit, great sense of humor, and her love of God. Though Ginger suffered from dementia for a number of years and spent her last years at Lancaster Manor, she never lost these wonderful qualities. Ginger was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Rubert and Howard; and, sisters Geraldine (Plettner), Norma (Shumate), and Marilyn (Potter). She is survived by daughters Kristy Hetrick and Cindy Coates, both of Phoenix, AZ; sons Mark (Kathy) Hoefs, and Gary (Cindy Summers) Hoefs, both of Lincoln, NE; and, brother Ronald Griess. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren: DaNise, Andrew, Barrett, Sam, Melissa, Amanda, Amber, Falon, and Haley; 14 great-grandchildren: Scott, Peyton, Elisha, Heather, Amanda, Tristen, Maddison, Miles, Dakota, Kadience, Alyssa, Miya, Za’riyah, and Aubrey; 4 great-great grandchildren: Sariah, Jacob, Brooklynn, and Avery; beloved niece Lonna (Vandy) Vandervort; and, many more nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be Friday, April 5, 2019 at 12:30 PM at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home.
