William Lee King

William "Bill" Lee King, 83, of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away July 8, 2026. He was born April 26, 1943, to his parents Floyd and Amanda (Roenfeldt) King of Battle Creek, Nebraska. He was a twin and one of 10 brothers.

Bill worked at Nucor Steel and Mid-Am Dairy in Norfolk, Nebraska. After relocating to Lincoln, he was a CDL truck driver for over 30 years for Hamilton Equipment. He was a hard worker and insisted on staying busy. After retirement, he continued to give his time by helping his friend, Jim Simpson, as a farm hand.

In 1990, Bill married Diana Ratliff in Norfolk. They relocated to Lincoln for employment opportunities and built a life centered on family. He and Diana raised their two sons, Aaron and David.

Away from work, Bill's happiest hours were often spent outdoors and with his family. They enjoyed camping in their fifth wheel in the Black HIlls and at area lakes. Bill also enjoyed fishing and deer hunting. He had a gift for knowing his way around small engines; making a “new” lawn mower by assembling parts from several old ones. He appreciated vintage cars and had been refurbishing a ’79 F150 pick-up. He also had a love for dogs; his past companion, a Black Lab, Shadow and at the time of his passing a yellow lab, Koda.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Don, Larry, Gene, Kenny (infant), Joey, Wayne, Glen and Richard; and great-granddaughter Sawyer Rose Mewis (born at rest). He was also preceded in death by his Black lab, Shadow.

He is survived by his bride of 36 years, Diana King, of Lincoln; sons Aaron (Megan) King of Hickman and David King of Lincoln; Aaron’s children, Alexis and Blake King; son Donald (Valarie) Bermel of Norfolk, and his children Marissa (Kody) Mewis, Mick and William (Bailey) Bermel; daughter Renee Forman of Norfolk, and her children Diego Garcia, Kamila and Marco Carrion; twin brother Bob (Shirley) King of Stanton, Nebraska. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
