

Church in Hanover, KS and became a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Beatrice. He served in the United States Navy and was a graduate of the University of Nebraska.
William was united in marriage to Lorna Scheele on April 6, 1961. They enjoyed 56 years together until Lorna passed away in 2017. William was a licensed land surveyor and professional civil engineer. He started Wehling Engineers with his brother Bob Wehling and managed the company. He served the community as County Surveyor of Gage and Thayer counties for several years. He enjoyed outdoor activities and was an avid runner and bicyclist for many years. In later years he enjoyed walking outdoors each day.
He is survived by his children Dawn (Bruce) Holtmeier, Tammy Brown, Bill Wehling, Lisa (Craig) Copas. Grandchildren Phillip (Taylor) Holtmeier, Cody (Stacie) Brown, Taryn Brown, Madison (Jared) Pohlen, and Alex Brown, Cassandra, Michael, and Larissa Wehling, Shyann (Alex) Morsey, and Josh Copas. Great Grandchildren Preston and Theo Holtmeier, Kashton, Zane, and Noah Brown, Lydia and Kaden Pohlen, Tripp Johnson, and Kendall Morsey. Brother Bob Wehling. Sisters Marilyn Brei, and Mary Shier. Sisters in law Audra Wehling, Rowien (Cliff) Kumm, Judy Holle, and Bev Adams. Numerous Nieces and Nephews.
He was preceded in death by Spouse Lorna Wehling, Parents Ernst and Ella Wehling, Daughter in law Michele Wehling Grandson Andrew Wehling, Brother Ernie Wehling, Brothers in law Merlin Brei, Doyle Adams, Roy Vanschoiack and Arlan Holle. Sister-in-law Sandi Adams.
Visitation Thursday, August 6, 2026, 6 pm to 8 pm at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home 6800 S 14th St, Lincoln NE, 68512. Memorial Services will be held on Friday, August 7th, 2026 at 10:30 am at Christ Lutheran Church, 4325 Sumner Street, in Lincoln.
