

Agustin Alvarez was born on May 10, 1927 in Guantánamo, Cuba where he lived until 1956. His parents were Ubaldina Rigueido Dobao and Agustin Alvarez. His father and mother owned a ranch where they produced meat and dairy products. He dreamed of opening up an ice cream factory one day. He was the 1st born. He completed high school. He retired at the age of 71 as an ILA Longshoreman. He lived in Newark and Elizabeth. He was married May 31, 1952 to Mercedes his lifelong sweetheart. He was married for 69 years. He is also survived by his five children Maria, Agustin, Rodolfo, Alexander and John; his grandchildren and a great-grandson. He had a strong belief in God, and Jesus Christ in a quiet way. He enjoyed working in his garden this was a passion of his. He also cared for animals when he was younger. He often brought animals to the house and they became pets. He enjoyed the environment, recycling, listening to classical music, and reading the World Almanac. He enjoyed having conversations with different people. He was faithful and reliable as a father and husband to his wife. He always stood by his family and this is why we love him so much.
A visitation for Agustin will be held Tuesday, January 5, 2021 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Krowicki McCracken Funeral Home, 2124 East Saint George Ave, Linden, NJ 07036. A prayer service will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM followed by an internment at Fairview Cemetery, 1100 E Broad St, Westfield, NJ 07090.
