

We celebrate the life, the love and legacy of Aida Luz Velez. Born in Santurce, Puerto Rico on the 9th of November 1944, and departing on the 8th of January 2024 to her eternal rest in the arms of God and to her loving husband, Roberto Velez who preceded her on the 14th of May 2018. Aida Luz came from a large family, with 11 siblings. She came to the United States at a tender age of 17, joining her sister, Milagros to work in Harry Levine Corp. in New York City, making handbags and accessories. She met her husband, Roberto, at a house party. Falling in love, they married on November 14, 1964. Roberto and Aida shared 53 years of wedded bliss. Aida had been retired from Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, where she worked in the medical records department. Aida was very active and dedicated to her church community, Holy Rosary-St. Michael’s Parish in Elizabeth. She was a Minister of the Eucharist, taught Catechism, participated in counseling and consultation for pre-cana and was a member of the parish council. Aida also was blessed with a beautiful singing voice, leading the church choir for many years, singing at weddings and other services. Aida was a loving and dedicated wife, attentive and caring mother, and doting and wonderful grandmother. Aida valued the love and dedication of her children and family, her life-long friends and the church. Aida leaves behind her sisters Olga, Zoraida, Lucelenia, Milagros and Brunilda and her brothers Salvador and Miguel. She was preceded in death by her three brothers Ricardo, Braulio and Luis and her parents Cecelia and Braulio. She also leaves her four children, Lenette Velez-Tirso, Migdalea Vargas, Roberto Velez and Alberto Velez and their spouses, and her grandchildren Cristina, Teddi, Adelia, Julian, Andre, Olivia, Arias, Nilsa, Sabrina and Arielle.

A visitation for Aida will be held Monday, January 15, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Krowicki McCracken Funeral Home, 2124 East Saint George Ave, Linden, NJ 07036. A funeral mass will take place Tuesday, January 16, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary & St. Michael's Catholic Church, 52 Smith St., Elizabeth, NJ 07201. A funeral will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 340 Ridge Rd., North Arlington, NJ 07031.
