Anjanette was predeceased by her parents, Alfred and Ruth (Baum) Lucco, her brother, James Graham, and her friend and father of her children, Carmine R. Valiante. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Alissa Valiante and Danielle (Alexis) Valiante-Luna, her brother, Angelo (Michael) Lucco, grandchildren Alexander and Xianni Luna, and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Anjanette was born and raised in Elizabeth, NJ. Breaking all child labor laws, she worked from an early age in her family’s luncheonette while attending St. Michael’s grammar school in Elizabeth. From there she went to Benedictine Academy for high school and Glassboro State College. While in college, she continued to work with her family while participating in CYO as a counselor as well as performing in many ways including opera, theatre, and even as a singing waitress. She also had a cabaret theatre business in the 80s. A musician in every sense of the word, Anjanette was a music teacher for over 30 years, working in both Catholic and public schools, dedicating most of her career to the Roselle Public School district.
A devout Catholic, Anjanette played and sang at churches throughout her life. After retiring from teaching, she played and sang at churches throughout Union County. She served as organist and Choir Director at St. Joseph the Carpenter, St. Anthony of Padua and St. Genevieve’s. She was also active in various community theaters, especially CDC and their community outreach program.
She loved spending time at the beach and the pool (she loved a good tan), gardening, bowling, and eating hot peppers. She loved to talk, write poetry, and have gatherings with family where she would recite her poems and pass out lyrics for a sing-a-long.
Anjanette kept in touch with all of her family and friends she grew up with. She enjoyed going out with different groups of people throughout the year, always adding to her friend list, never deleting. She always put family first, making time for everyone, especially her girls. She never missed a performance or ceremony, and even served as PTA President at both School #22 and Elizabeth High School.
Becoming a grandmother opened a whole new world to her. As a child, she loved spending time with her own Granny and Pop-Pop, so she made her house a place where her grandchildren wanted to spend time, whether it was walks in the park, trips for ice cream, swimming in the pool, or sleepovers. Anjanette had no limit to her dedication and energy level for her grandchildren.
