Douglas Daniel Berenguer, 91, passed away peacefully at his home in Elizabeth, NJ, on July 26, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose selfless love for his family defined his life. His kindness, strength, and quiet dedication will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Douglas was born on April 10, 1935, in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba, to Antonio Berenguer and Carmen Berenguer (née Ossorio). He was the third of ten children. In 1968, Douglas left Cuba for Spain in search of a better future, and finally settled in Elizabeth, NJ in 1969.

On November 4, 1979, Douglas married the love of his life, Altagracia Berenguer (née Rocha), whom he met while working at the Morey Larue Laundromat in Linden, NJ. Together they built a life centered on love, faith, and family. Douglas was a proud and devoted father to his two children, Zaida and Lazaro Berenguer. He also cherished his daughter-in-law, Priscilla Berenguer, and his three beloved grandchildren, Deborah, Esther, and Caleb, who brought him immense joy and pride.

Douglas was known as a hardworking and dedicated family man. He was a man of prayer who enjoyed reading the Bible in his later years. He lived with humility, generosity, and compassion. He found his greatest happiness in caring for his family and serving as a loving example through his actions.

Douglas will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of faith, courage, love and devotion to his family will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 3, 2026, at Krowicki McCracken Funeral Home 2124 East St. Georges Ave Linden, NJ from 5pm to 9pm.

The funeral will be on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, which will commence with a viewing from 9am to 11:30am at Krowicki McCraken Funeral Home followed by internment at Rosedale Cementery at 355 E. Linden Ave Linden NJ, 07036.

Douglas Daniel Berenguer de 91 años de edad fallecio en su hogar en Elizabeth, NJ el 26 de Julio del 2026, rodeado de su querida familia. Fue un esposo, padre y abuelo devoto cuyo amor desinteresado por su familia definió su vida. Su bondad, fortaleza y dedicación silenciosa serán recordadas por todos los que lo conocieron y amaron.

Douglas nació el 10 de abril del 1935 en Santiago de Cuba, Cuba a Antonio Berenguer y Carmen Berenguer (de soltera Ossorio) y era el tercero de diez hijos. En 1968, Douglas salió de Cuba hacia España en busca de un futuro mejor y finalmente se estableció en Elizabeth, NJ en el 1969.

El 4 de noviembre de 1979, Douglas se casó con el amor de su vida, Altagracia Berenguer (de soltera Rocha), a quien conoció mientras trabajaba en la lavandería Morey Larue en Linden, NJ. Juntos construyeron una vida centrada en el amor, la fe y la familia. Douglas era un padre orgulloso y devoto de sus dos hijos, Zaida y Lázaro Berenguer. También apreciaba a su nuera, Priscilla Berenguer, y a sus tres amados nietos, Deborah, Esther y Caleb, quienes le brindaron una inmensa alegría y orgullo.

Douglas era conocido como un hombre trabajador y dedicado a su familia. En sus ultimos años el fue un hombre de oración que le encantaba leer la biblia. Vivió con humildad, generosidad y compasión. Su mayor felicidad era cuidar y estar rodeado de su familia.

Su familia y todos los que tuvieron el privilegio de conocerlo extrañarán profundamente a Douglas. Su legado de fe, valentía, amor y devoción hacia su familia vivirá en los corazones de quienes dejo atrás.

El velorio se llevará a cabo el lunes 3 de agosto de 2026 en Krowicki McCracken Funeral Home ubicado en el 2124 East St. Georges Ave Linden, NJ, de 5 p. m. a 9 p. m.

El funeral será el martes 4 de agosto de 2026 y comenzará con un velorio de 9 a. m. a 11:30 a. m. en la funeraria Krowicki McCraken seguido del internamiento en el cementerio Rosedale en 355 E. Linden Ave Linden NJ, 07036.
