OBITUARY

Florence G Jacome

July 26, 1948September 9, 2020

There was no greater love story than that between Flo and Eddie. More often than not, their love and loyalty to each other was often showcased on the dance floor where they swayed in unison to every song whether it was Kenny Rogers crooning their wedding ballad, “Through the Years” or Mark Anthony singing his latest and greatest hit and their deep connection was something that filled a room and could be felt by everyone in their presence. When asked about his wife, Eddie said, she was my best friend, companion, supporter and the BEST mother to my children. Flo was not only a mother to her five amazing biological children, but bonus Mom to scores of others. Children from the neighborhood would fill her home and they, in turn, would be filled by food, love, and good advice. Unconditional love, strength, and resilience were just a few of the gifts bestowed upon her children growing up and they credit her with being the guiding light that have led them to be the successful and compassionate adults they are today. Not one to mince words, many friends and family looked to Flo for advice and they knew, coming through her door meant that they would get one thing - The TRUTH. They may not have liked what they heard at the time but, like most, they knew that she was most often, if not always, right. Flo wore many hats - loyal wife and companion, fierce and protective mother and confidante, honest and caring friend and relative. She never failed to show up in the biggest way for everyone who loved her. She was a force to be reckoned with and fought like hell to the end. Although she will be greatly missed, her spirit lives on in the beauty and love of the family she and Ed created and she absolutely will never be forgotten. “Acknowledgment Letter of your donation please send to: Edwin Jacome c/o Dotty Barreto at dottyb719@gmail.com

My best friend, who upon our first meeting I thought only spoke Spanish, Tu eres el viento bajo mis alas ❤️

Flo was the most caring and loving person. I am Vincent's sister Mary Ann. I could not always be with my brother Vincent, but Flo and Ed were the best friends he could have, in fact their whole family included him in all their family functions. It is my lose that I didn't know Flo and Ed better in fact their whole family. I mourn her lose tremendously. Especially for my brother who has lost such a loving and caring friend.

I had the honor of meeting Flo when I was seven years old and
Flo was eight. We became instant friends. We had a happy childhood. We played all the games kids played back then. Sleep overs at Flo's house were fun. We didn't sleep, we talked all night. Flo and I remained friends. Then she met Edwin. They married. I was their Maid of Honor. I cried at their wedding, as I sobbed the day you went to be with our Lord. Flo was a trustworthy, honest and loyal friend. We stayed friends for six decades and then some. I will miss you dearly. I call your phone just to hear your voice on the other end. I will never again know the love we had for each other. I can only pray that the Lord sees me fit to be with you again in our Heavenly home. I know you are there with the Lord our God. If you find Johnny, tell him I love him. Oh, and don"t worry, I'll bring the potsy!

I have been a neighbor of Flo and Ed for over 40 years, I grew up with all the children and always felt the love and respect from all including Flo who was like a mom to lots of the neighborhood children up until a couple of weeks ago I saw Flo walking to her car like she did every morning for most of my life and going to work, I stopped her and said Flo when are you going to retire and she looked at me smiled and said not for a while my work is very important to me. Words can’t explain how she will be missed by all who knew her what a wonderful human being. This world would be a better place if we had more Flo Jacome in it.

Your home was my childhood! Many years spent there as a child and til this day I still feel as part of the family. The love and commitment made to your loving husband and family did not go unnoticed. I always admired how the family always stayed connected. How the kids I grew up with all became family oriented like the example they were taught thru u and ur husband. You were an amazing woman and ur legacy will continue to live thru all those you have touch! ❤️ Rest in heaven .. We love you Flo! 🥰
