Galo Proaño-Cobo

Galo Proaño-Cobo, of Union, NJ passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2022 peacefully with his family by his side. Galo was born on October 28, 1967 in Ambato, Ecuador to Galo Proaño and Laura Cobo, and raised by his loving grandparents Carmen Calvache and Laureano Cobo. Galo came to the United States in 1988 to pursue the American Dream and opportunity for his family. Galo was a CNC Programmer at Package Development for over 20 years, where he was a cherished employee.

Galo was a beloved husband and happily married to Angela Narea-Proaño, who was his childhood friend and later partner in life for 32 years.

Galo is survived by his loving wife Angela Narea-Proaño, daughters Andrea Cacciatore (Alfonso), Allison Breton (Victor), Vanessa Barros (Orlando Jr.), sons Christopher Proaño, Ricardo Zambrano and 4 grandchildren, Jayden, Aubrey, Gianna and Mila. Beloved siblings Alex Proaño, Flor Maria Proaño and Carlos Proaño. Loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

Besides spending time with his family and friends, Galo had a passion for motorcycles, soccer, grilling for his family, traveling and watching movies. Galo was a proud ‘Original 9’ member of LAMA Newark Chapter, and the longest standing member of the chapter until the time of his death. He served in multiple positions throughout his tenure, most notably as Chapter President. Galo was involved in volunteer work and fundraising events within his community. Galo will be remembered for his sense of humor, kindness, and ability to encourage and sense of knowing when to help others. He touched many lives and will forever be remembered by all who were fortunate to meet him.

Family and friends are invited to Visitation on Monday, April 11, 2022 from 5pm-9pm at Krowicki McCracken Funeral Home in Linden, NJ. Services held on Tuesday April 12, 2022 at 10:15am at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Union, NJ followed by Interment at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia, NJ.
