

Genevieve M. Wojcik (née Bury), 94, of Rahway, N.J., was born on October 1, 1930, in Elizabeth, N.J., and educated at St. Adalbert Roman Catholic School and the city’s public schools. On New Year’s Eve 1955, she married her beloved husband of 61 years, Joseph Wojcik, at St. Adalbert’s Church in Elizabeth. The couple settled in Rahway in 1973. Genevieve passed away peacefully at home on February 7, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.
She worked in bakery production at the Burry Biscuit Company and later at Frenchette’s Crullers, both in Elizabeth, before retiring early to dedicate herself to her family and community. A devout member of St. Hedwig’s Roman Catholic Church in Elizabeth, Genevieve was also actively involved in the Polish Legion of American Veterans, Post 91, where her husband held numerous leadership roles.
Known as “Jenny” to family and friends, she embraced her role as a family matriarch, offering unwavering support to nieces and nephews across three generations. She loved traveling, hosting festive gatherings at her home, and cooking traditional Polish dishes. A woman of deep faith, she regularly attended church and volunteered for various parish activities.
Genevieve will be fondly remembered for her sharp wit, sense of humor, and enduring strength of character. Her devotion to God, family, and friends left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Predeceased by her parents, Josephine and Andrew Bury; her brother, Edward; three sisters, Mary, Helen, and Josephine; and her husband, Joseph Wojcik, who passed in 2016. Genevieve is survived by her niece Barbara Pluciennik; her niece JoAnn Daugenti and husband Michael; her nephew Robert Hauschild and wife Gabrielle; sister-in-law Grace Wojcik, nephew Ken Wojcik, and other nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind three grandnieces, Jennifer Lorys and husband Dan, Nicole Monticello, and Christina Daugenti; as well as four great-grandnieces and nephews, Juliette, Lincoln, Theo, and Lucas. Genevieve is deeply mourned by her close friend Maureen Farguharson and her husband Alvin.
Visitation for Genevieve will be held Wednesday, February 12, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at KROWICKI MCCRACKEN FUNERAL HOME, 2124 East Saint Georges Ave, Linden, NJ 07036.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a funeral on on Thursday, February 13, 2025, 9:00 am from the funeral home. Funeral mass St. Hedwig Roman Catholic Church, Elizabeth, 10:00 am.
