Geraldine Dorothy DeRose

Geraldine “Gerry” DeRose, 96, of Hamilton Square, NJ, passed away Thursday, November 13 at Overlook Medical Center in Summit. Born in Elizabeth, she lived there until moving to Roselle Park for 16 years, before moving to Holiday Heights in Berkeley Twp, and then to Hamilton and Union, NJ. She worked for the Elizabeth Board of Education for over 20 years before retiring in 1991.

She was predeceased by her husband Danny (2011), her son Donald (2007), her parents, Cecilia and Emil Mascot, her sister, Carol Cannon, and her brother, Emil Mascot Jr.

She is survived by three sons, Daniel DeRose and his wife Mary of Hamilton Square, NJ, Patrick DeRose of Union, NJ, Peter DeRose and his wife Melissa of Millstone Twp., NJ; a daughter, Sr. Marisa DeRose, FMA of Kenilworth, NJ; and a daughter-in-law Debra DeRose of Clark, NJ. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Kathleen Wilson (Keith), Daniel DeRose (Kara), Michael DeRose (Jenna), Elizabeth Cocchi (Rick), Jennifer Wegner (Brian), Megan, Jaime, Thomas (Cristina), Evan and Brendan DeRose, and 13 great-grandchildren.

Gerry loved a good party, she loved traveling, going “down the shore”, and spending time with family.

Visiting hours are Monday, November 17 from 4:00-8:00PM at Krowicki McCracken Funeral Home, 2124 East St. George Avenue, Linden, NJ 07036. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 18, at 10:30AM at St. Theresa Church, 541 Washington Avenue, Kenilworth, NJ 07033.

Interment will be private.
