Geraldine Forbes of Rahway, NJ was born on Sunday, November 26, 1933. She was the third child born to the late William and Lillian Storey. Geraldine affectionately known as Gerry, was educated in the Rahway Public Schools system, graduating in 1952. Her employers were RCA, Elecast and Rahway Hospital until she retired in 1995.
Geraldine was a faithful member of the Somerset Baptist Church in Somerset, NJ. Gerry was a member of the Union County Minority Task Force, she was an avid bowler in her younger years, she loved her arts and crafts, loved attending dance classes, word puzzles, playing bingo weekly, attending bible study and socializing at any and every opportunity. Gerry also donated to several charities. She loved to travel and loved to talk and laugh. She was Never/Ever without here cell phone or her thermos filled with coffee. She also enjoyed an occasional glass wine or a Mango Margarita every now and then.
Geraldine Forbes, won the battle and transitioned home on Thursday, September 1, 2022 after a brief illness. She is predeceased by her parents Lillian and William Storey Sr., her siblings, Eugene (Genie), William Jr. (Honey), Beverly, Dennis, Russell, June and Roger.
Geraldine leaves to mourn and cherish her fond memories her daughter Lynn of Rahway, her son Barry (Marie) of Somerset, her grandson, Barry Laquan, her great grands, Barry Jr. and Brianna all of NC, her sisters Doris of Metuchen, Janice of Florida, her sister in law Joyce Storey of Delaware, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved Gerry tremendously.
Geraldine had a heart of Gold and was loved by everyone she came in contact with. She would do whatever you asked of her. She was the Matriarch of the family, our living hub, the family’s second mom. She was the family’s 411. When she called you she kept everyone abreast of all and everything going on with and within our family. She called and checked on everyone. She loved to give and send greeting cards whenever someone celebrated a birthday or milestone. Her nick names were Road Dog, Mother Dear, and Mustang Salley to name a few. She loved attending the events with her fellow seniors sponsored by the building she resided in at Golden Age Towers. Even though Gerry was a senior, she never drove like one. She had a led foot and would always speed while driving. And if you told her to slow down, she would never admit that she was speeding. She loved spending time with her sisters. And boy she was a great cook, and an even better baker. She was famous for her pistachio cakes, and coconut pineapple cakes.
It’s now up to our family to stay in touch with each other, because our 411 line has been disconnected.
Geraldine was a Class Act and has taken her final bow. May she rest in Peace.
