

Harold Albert Thomas, a respected businessman, devoted family man, and beloved member of his community, passed away on November 8, 2025, in West Orange, New Jersey. Born on August 19, 1945, in Panama City, Panama, Harold began his career with Rodman & Yaruss before founding his own company, Harold Gold Refinery, in New York City. With a career spanning more than half a century, he left a lasting mark on the precious metals and diamond industry, becoming a well-known and respected figure in the NYC Diamond District.
Harold led a vibrant and fulfilling life. A former Olympic boxer in Panama, he maintained a lifelong love of boxing and fitness. He enjoyed going to the movies, cooking West Indian cuisine, and caring for his collection of luxury cars, which he loved to polish and maintain. Known for his playful spirit, Harold delighted in singing, dancing, humming his favorite tune, and whistling. He never missed a Sunday at Christ Church, where he cherished reading his San Pio de pietrelcina and NIV gospel of John.
He is survived by his children, Rachel Thomas and Timothy Thomas, and his wife Meghan Saphire; his stepson, Maximillian S. Solano, and his wife, Poonam Ganatra; and his grandchildren TJ and Abby Piniella, Arianna and Morgan Matthie, and Sage and Rowan Thomas. Harold also leaves behind his brother, Ricardo “Rick” Headley, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, including Rico and Jamar Oakley, Lil Ricky Headley, Michele, Jamika, and Antonio. Harold was the godfather of Larry Jr., Renata, and Caliek. Harold is also survived by his former wives, Janet F. and Vivian S., and by Norine Slaughter, mother of his firstborn. Harold is also survived by Yolanda Thomas, Bishop Brown and many more family and friends.
Harold’s warmth, energy, and devotion to family and community left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He will be remembered for his love of life, his faith, and the joy he brought to everyone around him.
A visitation will be held at Krowicki McCracken Funeral Home, located at 2124 East Saint George Ave, Linden, NJ, 07036, United States, on November 20, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
The funeral service will take place at the same venue on November 21, 2025, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
A graveside service will follow at Rosehill Cemetery and Crematory, located at 792 W Edgar Rd, Linden, NJ, 07036, United States, on November 21, 2025, at 12:30pm.
