Jerzy "Jerry” Maziarz, born July 28, 1954, passed away peacefully and surrounded by the love of his family on February 18, 2026. Jerzy will be greatly missed by all who knew him, remembered for his generous heart, jokes, kindness, and the joy he found in life’s simplest moments.
Born and having grown up in Jaslo, Poland, Jerzy came to the United States in 1988, at the age of 34. Having worked many jobs in the United States, Jerzy’s most loved was his volunteer work at St. Joseph's Social Service Center for over 25 years. His desire to serve people in need was so strong. Not only was St. Joseph's a place where he served others, but he was surrounded by a second family to him. He loved and cared for all those he worked with at St. Joseph's.
Jerzy leaves behind his children, Ivona and David, his mom Stefania, brother Marek, and life partner Jadwiga. Jerzy is pre-deceased by his father, and son Arturek.
To know Jerzy was to love him. Jerzy called and spoke to his mom every day, encompassing the love and devotion he had for his mom, filling her in on what was going on in his and his family’s lives, and making sure his mom was okay. Jerzy was an amazing father, being both a role-model and support for both of his children. He was most proud of them and their accomplishments, sharing them however he could with whoever he could. Jerzy made sure he was there for his kids all day, every day, and always offering his help and support however he could; whether it be a joke to lighten their spirits, a story to share his life with them, or his presence and advice in any and all situations.
Jerzy was a man who found love and peace in nature and the world. In his youth, Jerzy loved to travel around Europe, telling many stories of his travels in his Polonez. He loved fishing, riding his bike, getting tan during the summer, and watching sports with his son like soccer, tennis, cycling, and boxing. Jerzy also had a profound love for animals, whether it be his two cats at home, Bandit and Czarna, his dog in his youth, Saba, or all the cats he cared for at St. Joseph's.
Jerzy’s legacy lives on in the laughter he inspired, the kindness he showed, and the deep love he shared. His presence will be profoundly missed, yet his spirit will remain forever for all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Visitation will be held at Krowicki McCracken Funeral Home, 2124 East Saint Georges Ave, Linden, on Monday, February 23, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a funeral memorial mass on Saturday, February 28, 2026. Funeral mass will take place at St. Adalbert’s Church, 250 East Jersey Street, Elizabeth, 11 am.
