Born on June 2, 1958, in Almada, Portugal, Joseph was the son of Ermelinda De Jesus and Antonio Rodrigues Rebelo. He moved to the United States at the age of 18 and worked at Northeast Auto Terminal at the Port of Bayonne for 25 years.
Joseph is survived by his companion of 35 years, Phyllis Montzi; his son, Justin; and his granddaughter, Ayla.
A quiet and reserved man, Joseph enjoyed watching Portuguese television and movies. He was also a devoted dog dad to his beloved Shih Tzus, Shu-Shu, Simba, and Sammy, who brought him years of love and companionship. He will be remembered and missed by those who knew and loved him.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, 40 Alden St, Cranford, on Tuesday, August 4, 2026
at 10:00 am.
