Maria Luisa Hidalgo, beloved wife and mother, passed peacefully on March 14, 2025, at the age of 85, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, humor, and love that touched everyone she encountered. Born on November 29, 1939, in Cuba, Maria brought a lively spirit and deep connection to her roots as she made her home in Long Beach, NY before moving to Elizabeth, New Jersey.

Maria led a life filled with joy and adventure. She had an infectious sense of humor that brightened every room, often quoting her favorite Bugs Bunny line, "It's a possibility!" Her wit, laughter and zest for life, paired with a love for travel, art, music, the piano, and the simple pleasure of walking outdoors, deeply inspired those around her. Her love of cartoons and horror movies showed her unique blend of passion for both light-hearted and thrilling entertainment.

Maria carried her Catholic faith with her, offering kindness and compassion to those she met. Her culinary talents were reflected in her meals and desserts, which became treasured moments around the table with family and friends. Known and respected for her generosity in spirit, she formed bonds that transcended beyond her immediate family.

Maria is survived by her loving husband, Jesus Hidalgo, and her cherished daughter, Emma Fonseca, along with a large family who all carry on the values she embodied. Her absence leaves a void, but her legacy of love and laughter remains an everlasting gift to all who had the fortune to know her.

Family and friends are invited to share in her memory at the visitation on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Krowicki McCracken Funeral Home, 2124 East St Georges Ave, Linden, NJ. A prayer service will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the same location, followed by a funeral at Saint Gertrude Cemetery & Mausoleum, 53 Inman Ave, Woodbridge Township, NJ. Though Maria Luisa has passed on, her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts and memories of all who knew her.
