Marie Dorvelus Veve "Man Brillant"

Marie Dorvelus Veve, age 98 passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2025. Born on June 29, 1917, Port- Margot, Haiti, she was a daughter of the late Dorvelus Veve and Chermilia Oscar Veve. She began her education at Sister of St. Joseph of Cligny in Port-Margot. Growing up she was very active in the church. She moved to Cap- Haitien where she spent the majority of her life. She was a member of Cathedral Catholic Church of Cap - Haitien. Her passion for business led her to become self employed, until her retirement. She moved to the United States in June of 1999.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Marie Dorvelus was known by many names including Man Brillant and Man Bout. She loved singing, dancing, and cooking!

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings Joseph Dorvelus Veve, Pierre Dorvelus Veve, Herve Dorvelus Veve, and Anne Marie Dorvelus Veve. Her son-in law Yves Blot and an infant grandson, Steve Abraham Blot.

Marie Dorvelus leaves behind 5 children : Joseph Max Veve, Jacques Veve with wife Marie Romain Veve, Antoinette Veve Blot, Marie Nelta Aifuwa with husband Chris Aifuwa, Josette Veve with husband Henri Koutana.

15 Grandchildren: Angela Veve, Carla Veve Raphael with husband James Wonderson Raphael, Guydior Veve with wife Katiana Duverneau Veve , Joseph Max Veve II, Lesly Francois Veve with wife Amelia Smith Veve, Yves Emmanuel Veve, Stephanie Veve, Wisly Veve, Roosevelt Aristilde with wife Camile White Aristilde, Daphney Montrevil, Christine Aifuwa, Akewe Aifuwa, Rachel Blot , Deborah Blot & Sarah Genevieve Koutana.

13 Great grandchildren : Ziion Aristilde, Faith Aristilde, Osiris Aristilde, Nefertiti Aristilde , Chloè Angie Docteur , Sebastien Ethan Docteur , Yoann Arthur Jean Gilles , Wondcarlie Chimene Raphael , Clearwontie Sonia Raphael, Cheremelia Emilie Veve, Russel Gabriel Veve, Guydior Junior Veve & Samarah Jeannette Garat Marie Dorvelus also leaves behind plenty of Godchildren, nephews and nieces , grand nephews and grandnieces, great grand nephews and great grand nieces, and many cousins.

We would also like to pay tribute to her children’s friends Marie Bishop , Margaret Pierre, Claude Phanord and Charles (Dodo) Baptiste, along with special thanks to her long term staff members of Amber Court Assisted Living and staff from the Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Elizabeth, New Jersey.

A visitation will be held at Krowicki McCracken Funeral Home, located at 2124 East Saint George Ave, Linden, NJ 07036, on November 21, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Family and friends are invited to meet for the funeral mass , which will take place at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary and St. Michael's Catholic Church, located at 52 Smith St, Elizabeth, NJ 07201, on November 22, 2025, from 9:30 am to 11:00 am.

The funeral will be held at Rosedale Cemetery, located at 750 E Linden Ave, Linden, NJ 07036, on November 22, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.
