

Matilda V. (Zamorski) Kazanecki, 103, of Elizabeth, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 31, 2021. Matilda was born on Franz Josef Avenue in Elizabeth, NJ on November 11, 1917 to Polish-American parents Jacob and Theodora Zamorski. Matilda was the sixth of seven children. She grew up and attended school in Elizabeth. After one year of high school, she left school to get a job to help out her family. Later, on a trip to Newark, NJ to visit her older sister, she met and would later marry Joseph Vrabel in St. Hedwig’s Church, Elizabeth. They had 3 children and lived in Newark, but needing a larger home, they moved back to Elizabeth in 1952, where she resided until becoming a resident of Brother Bonaventure Extended Care Center in 2008.
Seven years after the death of her husband Matilda married Stanley Kazanecki of Elizabeth. They were married for 14 years.
Matilda enjoyed sewing and taking care of her family. She had several jobs during her adult life including working at an ice cream parlor, and at Ballantine Brewery in Newark during the war. She also worked in the cafeteria at the Pingry School in Elizabeth, and later at Hexacon, an electrical supply company also in Elizabeth. She was a member of Queen Hedwig Society, Senior Citizens, and ladies auxiliary, Rev. Dean Gessner, council 3310, Knights of Columbus in Elizabeth.
Matilda is predeceased by her first husband Joseph J. Vrabel in 1979, her second husband Stanley J. Kazanecki in 2002, and 6 siblings.
She is survived by son, Joseph F. Vrabel of Catasauqua, PA; 2 daughters, Francene L. Golda of Brick, NJ; Nancy L. Pribila of Lanoka Harbor, NJ; 8 grandchildren, Scott Vrabel, and wife Georgette, James Vrabel, Jennifer Faust, Tracey Paradiso, Vincent Golda, Glen Golda, Matthew Pribila, and wife Maureen, Kristine McNicholas, and husband Christopher; 9 great-grandchildren, Caitlin, Taylor, Sarah, Andrew, Silvana, Anthony, Emily, Joseph, Colleen.
A visitation for Matilda will be held on Monday, November 8, 2021 from 8:30- 10:30AM at Krowicki McCracken Funeral Home, 2124 East St. George Avenue Linden. Funeral mass will be held, 11:00AM, at St. Hedwig RC Church, Elizabeth. Interment will follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.
