In 1947 Milorad Rajacic was born in Bijelkovac, Croatia to Sofija (nee Vranes) and Konstantin Rajacic. He was the middle of three brothers. In 1966 he emigrated to New York City where he settled in the East Village with his brothers and other family members and met his wife, Emilia Jackow. On March 16, 1974, he and Emilia married in St. Stanislaus Church in Manhattan. The couple had been married for 50 years and raised two children, Brigitte and Peter.
In 2001 Milorad experienced twin tragedies when his mother died, and the day after he came back from her funeral in Europe, 9/11 happened. As an experienced electrician with Con Edison in New York City he immediately began working on restoring the power grid in Downtown Manhattan below 14th St until his retirement from Con Edison in 2012 after a 40-year career. Milorad was serious, steady, and hardworking, but had a sly sense of humor he only seemed to reveal to those closest to him. He loved animals and working in his garden. His favorite pastimes were reading and watching soccer and old Western movies.
He was a devout member of the St. George Serbian Eastern Orthodox Church in Elizabeth, NJ. He is survived by his wife Emilia, his daughter Brigitte Rajacic, his son Dr. Peter Rajacic and his wife Patrice Rajacic, his grandson, Andre Rajacic, his brothers Roy and Milan Rajacic, his sisters-in-law Maria Rajacic and Anna Jackow Zermoska, his nieces Jennifer Abreu, Dr. Jeane Rajacic-Poppe, Michelle Rajacic and nephews, Mike Rajacic and Witold Krupinski and extended family in New Jersey, New York, Florida, Missouri, Canada, and Serbia.
