Miriam Meyer

Miriam Meyer (nee Miriam Rosa America Morales Aleman), age 88, of Elizabeth, New Jersey passed away peacefully on August 10, 2026. Born in El Caney, Cuba to Luis Morales Roca and Mariana Aleman Cabellero, she will be remembered for her perseverance and love for family. Despite a language barrier, she worked her way through college ultimately earning a Bachelor of Arts degree from Kean College (now Kean University). Upon her graduation, she spent her life teaching Spanish at the Elizabeth School District, guiding and inspiring thousands of students to love language and culture.

She was predeceased by her parents, Luis and Mariana, her sister, Eunice Morales, and is survived by her sisters, Ana E. Navarrete, Vilma Planas, and brother Pedro L. Morales, niece Terry Navarrete, and nephews Alberto Planas, Louis Navarrete, Eric Morales and Peter J. Morales and great nieces and nephews, Manny Planas, Tracy Markovic, Jennifer Planas, Gabriella Morales, Charlotte Morales, Peter Marco Morales, Kelsey Markovic, Emmalyn Planas and Addison Planas.
