Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, and Friend
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Miruś, who departed this world on June 20, 2023. After a long and courageous battle with cancer, at home, surrounded by his adoring family, he left behind his devoted wife, Diane, and two loving step-sons, Mark Legiec and wife, Kelly Pitoscia-Legiec, and Thomas Legiec and wife, Wioletta Brodowska-Legiec and four cherished grandchildren, Mia, Eva, Leah, and Max.
Born in Ełk, Poland, to Lidia and Adam Mioduszewski on March 22, 1953, Mirek entered the world with his modest demeanor and valor. Mirek excelled in all sports, history, and geography in school. He moved to the US in 1981 from Poland, armed with a suitcase full of dreams and a remarkable talent for raising eyebrows with his good looks and Tom Selleck mustache. Years later, he married his wife Diane, the love of his life.
Soccer was Mirek's true passion, and he could outcheer any die-hard fan. Whether he was on the field or debating players' abilities, his love for soccer was contagious. He may have kept his emotions in check, but his eyes gleamed whenever he watched a match.
Aside from soccer, Mirek had an adventurous spirit and often traveled. He wholeheartedly embraced his wife Diane’s penchant for vintage treasures, spending hours by her side, usually enthusiastic while being dragged from one antique store to another. Through it all, he maintained his dry wit, making even the most tedious shopping trips an adventure filled with patience, love, and laughter.
An occasional glass of Johnny Walker was Mirek's secret to maintaining his poker face in a world full of chaos. With a twinkle in his eye, he would enjoy the amber elixir, savoring each sip and appreciating life's little pleasures. We can only imagine him raising a glass right now, toasting the memories he created and the laughter he shared.
In his professional life, Mirek was a master of many trades. He worked as a self-employed contractor, leaving his mark on many homes. Later in his career, he traded in his tool belt for a job at L'Oréal, where he brought his unwavering work ethic to the machine and forklift in the manufacturing warehouse.
As we bid farewell to Mirek, let us remember the comfort he brought into our lives. His stoic façade may have fooled the world, but his kindness and love for adventure will forever be etched in our hearts.
