

Nelson Javier Sotolongo, 57, of Plainfield, NJ, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2025. Born on September 20, 1968, in Newark, NJ, Nelson lived a full and joyful life centered around family, friendship, and laughter.
A dedicated professional, Nelson built a successful career as a retail sales manager, working with organizations such as IKEA, Macy’s, and Goodwill. Known for his sharp wit, infectious smile, and generous heart, Nelson had a special gift for brightening any room he entered. His sense of humor, unwavering loyalty, and ability to make others laugh left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
One of Nelson’s greatest joys was his steadfast belief that the Dallas Cowboys would once again win the Super Bowl, a running joke that will continue to bring smiles to those who loved him most.
Though Nelson’s physical presence will be deeply missed, his spirit will live on through the love, laughter, and kindness he shared. May his memory be a blessing, and may we honor his legacy by carrying forward his compassion and humor in our own lives.
Nelson is survived by his devoted wife of 25 years, Lys (née Jimenez); his beloved children, Maxwell Rodriguez (Christina), Tanairi Estrella (Damian), and Mariah Perez; his brother Javier, his sister Maggie; and his cherished grandchildren, Maxwell Jr., Myles, Damian Jr., and Dominick. He is also lovingly remembered by several godchildren and extended family members. who will miss him dearly. Nelson was predeceased by his parents, Javier and Felipa Sotolongo (née Morales).
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Krowicki McCracken Funeral Home, 2124 East Saint George Ave, Linden, NJ 07036.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at Rosedale Cemetery, 750 E Linden Ave, Linden, NJ.
