

Nicholas Berezniak, aged 94, born in Coaldale, Pennsylvania, lifelong resident of Avenel, New Jersey passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family. He was a devoted husband of 68 years to his wife, Pearl (Timko) married in his home parish of St. Mary’s Orthodox Church, Coaldale, PA. Nicholas was a loving father to Nicholas, Jr., Gregory and his wife, Karen Ann Berezniak, daughter Karen Ann and her husband Michael Yuschak. He was a cherished grandfather to Stephanie (husband Matthew), Kristen, Anastasia (husband Jonathan), John, Nicholas, George, and Katherine.
As a young man, Nicholas, enjoyed playing high school football for the Coaldale Tigers, semi-pro football in the Panther Valley Region and, like his father before him, worked as a coal miner until volunteering for the Korean Conflict where he obtained the rank of Sergeant in the U.S. Army, serving with the 5th RCT as a tank commander. After relocating to New Jersey, he obtained a management degree from Middlesex County College, highlighting his management talents in the manufacturing industry. He enjoyed a long 28-year career as Quality Control Manager for Supermarkets General. In retirement, he enjoyed establishing his own business, Tradition Video, filming many weddings and special events in the area. Additionally, he was the creator and administrator of the website www.Coaldale-Alumni.com and managed the social media page – “Past, Present, Future”, never relinquishing his love for his home town.
His greatest devotion was to his church and family; he served as a long-standing council member at SS Peter and Paul Orthodox Church in South River, New Jersey. Nicholas will be warmly remembered as the greeter of many who visited the parish.
Nicholas is predeceased by his parents Anna (Solaninka) and Isadore Berezniak, sisters Nancy and Anna and brother John.

A visitation for Nicholas will be held Friday, November 29, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at SS Peter and Paul Orthodox Church at 76 Whitehead Ave, South River, NJ 08882.
A Panahida will occur Friday, November 29, 2024 from 6:30 PM to 7:00 PM, at the church. The funeral service will occur at the church on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at 10 AM, followed by the cemetery at 11:30 AM at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Raymond Place, South River, NJ 08882.
